The research carried out by the author of the paper allowed the thesis that in the curriculum of artistic universities and the publishing market there is a lack of a book that would clearly present the goals and effects of practicing calligraphy and lettering and the possibilities of using these skills in the context of graphic design. This paper, based on author's research and conversations with active designers is an attempt to answer the question about the influence of calligraphy and lettering on the designer's skills.
